Just One Star

My son is serving in Afghanistan.  "Route Clearance" is his official mission.   Roadside bomb detection.
What can I do besides pray for the boys?

I can quilt.  And it could possibly make a difference to a wounded soldier somewhere who needs a hug from home.

Moda has issued a challenge to piece, quilt and bind 100 quilts in 100 days.  1800 little star blocks are needed by May 1st to reach their quilt deadline by flag day, June 14th, 2011.
I can do that!  Just one little star.  Like this one.  I made it in just a few minutes.  For a soldier.

Want to join the challenge?  Click here for the pattern, details and where to send your finished block:  JUST ONE STAR

Thanks from this Soldier's Mom.

  1. I might get 'my' RS to do this. We're looking for a service project. It must be so stressful having your son over there. How long is his tour? How often do you hear from him?

  2. Thanks, Eunice! He'll be home shortly before Christmas. We get word from him every couple of weeks. He can call home from the USO phone if he's on base, and occasionally we connect on facebook or skype. It is sporatic but always wonderful to hear his voice!
