Holiday Lane Hop!

"Just a hint of peppermint and every single thing begins to feel like Christmas..."

Can you tell, I like red?   The only thing I'm missing is a red and white stripe, then it could be Candy Cane Lane.    My husband thought it was cute too, and so clever to use wool "snow" on the rooftops - thanks to Jill of Jillily Studio for providing this free pattern for ust to try!  I can picture making a whole quilt of this little village.

The little houses were a snap to make.  Here's my time-saving tip for sewing "Stitch & Flip" corner triangles:
Instead of drawing a diagonal line from corner to corner on the back side of all the background squares,  I added a strip of painter's tape to the deck of the sewing machine, aligned and centered it with the needle.
Next I lined up the point of the square with the edge of the tape, and began stitching.
The point lines up with the edge of the tape as it travels all the way to the end.  Watch this video:

I chain-pieced all the units on one side, then trimmed the seam allowance to 1/4", pressed and repeated the process with the other side to form the perfect roofline - sew easy!

I had fun quilting little details:

And here's the finished project.  Cuteness!

I'm hopping in today with SewWeQuilt's Holiday Lane Pillow blog hop, getting a little Christmas Spirit and yes, Christmas music has been blaring at our house!
