Snippets ~ Memory Board!

Day III of Snippets Week with "She Who Sews" featuring Handmaids by J. Wecker Frisch for Quilting Treasures.

Let's make a Fat Quarter Memory Board!  A bit of sound board found at Home Depot or other building material store.  This comes in 4' x 8' sheets, for just a few $$.  My carpenter husband had a few pieces in the garage.  I haven't tried cork board, but an old ceiling tile will work, too!  One fat quarter, a bit of batting and ribbon, a few tacks, and you're ready!

SUPPLIES:
15" x 18" piece of sound board, cork board, ceiling tile, etc.
Background fabric:  1 Fat Quarter (18" x 21")
Batting Scrap:  18" x 21"
3 to 4 yards ribbon
Decorative upholstery tacks (8)
Heavy duty stapler and staples
Light Fusible Interfacing:  14" x 17"
Spray Adhesive
Pins

COVER the board with batting.  Use spray adhesive if you'd like.

CENTER fat quarter of fabric over the board.  FOLD and miter corners;
STAPLE to secure on the back.

Start at one corner and MEASURE in two inches.  Secure ribbon with a pin,
leaving a 2" to 3" tail.  MEASURE in 2" at the opposite corner, and secure with a pin.
Repeat to form an X with the ribbon crossing exactly in the middle of the board.

MEASURE equal distances on each side of the X, pinning ribbon together at the center
of the top and bottom of the board.  Add more ribbon if desired.
Add upholstery tacks at intersections of the ribbon to secure.

Staple ribbon ends on the back of the board.  Trim.

PRESS lightweight interfacing to the back of the board to cover the raw edges
and protect the wall when hanging.

Add a length of ribbon through the top of the ribbons to form a loop for hanging.

Slide pictures and little treasures beneath the ribbon, or pin to the board. A-dorable!
