Wickedly Cute!

I'm happy to be included in today's installment on the Wicked Blog Hop!  Thanks to Wendy for hosting and Madame Samm for gathering us all together again!

Here's my one block!
This is the start of a cute quilt called:  "Home is where the Haunt is!"   With other cute embroidered sayings that read "Mind your Mummy!" and "Bugs & Kisses Welcome Here!" - so fun.  Maybe by NEXT Halloween I'll finish my blocks.  Life got interrupted by preparations to go to Quilt Market (I'm having a blast, wish you were here!!) and we'll be packing to move across town the day I get back.  I can't wait to finish this quilt, so very cute.   Check out some more of Kimberbell's adorable designs on her Etsy shop.

Meanwhile, I still  have a thing for Ghastlies fabrics, and yes, I'm still a Ghastlie Ghoul!
My local quilt shop also loves Ghastlies, and the shop owner, Ann, came up with this pretty cute little Ms. Ghastlie, which she taught as a class.

Ms. Ghastlie

Adorable, don't you think?

Sew... would you like to win a pattern, kit and a few notions to make a Ms. Ghastlie doll?  Ann is writing up the pattern as we speak, and it will be ready in a few days, just in time for Hallowe'en.

To enter, click on the Rafflecopter box below and follow the instructions, if you're inclined.  The drawing will close on Oct 31st at midnight.  Then I'll be off teaching at the USU Sewing Training for FCS Teachers and 4-H Volunteers from around the state who gather to learn techniques/skills they can pass along to their students.  I 'm teaching a class of small, quick projects... and guess who's joining me?

Be sure to visit the rest of my quilting sisters today!

  12. That house is wickedly cool and I love all the sayings.. I hope to see the finished quilt. Answer: My oldest granddaughter is now showing an interest in sewing. I taught her some basics and she is making a quilt jelly roll race style. I thought it would be a good way to master 1/4 inch seams!

  18. My daughter and I made a quilt together when she was younger. We each drew our own sunbonnet Sue and I made a pattern out of them. We then traced and cut them out and appliqued them on blocks and I assembled and quilted them. We also always made decorations for every holiday. Lots of ideas out there for that.

  20. I had my 8 year old granddaughter last summer and I taught her to make her first quilt. It was a small wallhanging. This summer she came for 2 months and made a friend and she was telling the friend about making her first quilt. The friend wanted to learn too so I taught them both how to applique. We cut out dolphins and both girls took to the needle like they had been appliquing for a long time!

I love teaching children who are eager to learn!

  21. My 3 yr old daughter and I recently made her first quilt, a simple 9 patch that she stated loudly "I lub it" when she saw it all together. My son now wants to make one too. I hope they will come to love sewing just as I do.

OMG... I LOVE Ms. Ghastlie, what a pretty lady she is. I love her cross stitched face !!
I'm a follower. The things I made with my kids (and that is years ago because now they are grown up) was making halloween balls. We bought lot of small creepy things and a lot of plastic balls that can hang (like they are from glas) and then they filled up those balls with the creepy things, like spiders, little frogs etc. We hang them everywhere in the house.
We also did this with christmas and then filled the balls with glitter, little stars etc. and hang them in the christmas tree. This was a lot of fun !!

  51. Favorite project we made was a HUGE colored paper chain that was numbered. We started taking off a paper chain each day with the largest number. It was a count down to when daddy would be home from a military deployment. This gave the kids an idea of how long it really was going to be before he was coming home instead of asking every day. I had 4 children, and it gave them some sense of time and some sense of being a part of bringing him back as they were taking a day away each day.

I've also done a bit of decoupage with them, and I really think that with the current duct tape fad in all kinds of flavors, that decoupage has a HUGE window of opportunity for sprucing up some sort of box, shelf, stool, you name it! :)
