Among the BEST of the BEST! (& a giveaway!)

Quiltmaker magazine just released a brand new collection of Reader Favorites, a special collector's edition of 22 patterns selected from the past 33 years of publications.  Including this sweet little baby!

Originally published in Quiltmaker May/June 2014 (& featured on the cover), my little Sheep Shape quilt pattern makes a new appearance as one of Quiltmaker's top 5 reader favorite kids' quilts, amazing!

Bonus:  It includes my Step-by-Step folded Hexagami instructions as well.

And I had to laugh!  Since it's original publication, I've seen many different versions of the quilt - a few in subsequent Quiltmaker issues and several on social media - but this little piglet really tickled me!

And here's my Version II.   I've probably shown him before.  Mostly the same elements plus a tail, an extra hoof, a 3-D butterfly, and a happy little disposition.

Besides adorable kids' quilts, the new magazine includes favorite traditional, scrappy and holiday quilts.  Of course, I want to make them all!

Want a chance to win a free copy?  I'll include instructions and templates for Sheep Shape.II, just in case you want to make him, too.  Just leave a comment below.  What are you up to this summer?  Giveaway will end Monday at 5pm, Mountain standard time.  Be sure I can contact you via email if you are a no-reply blogger.  And of course-not required-but you are always welcome to follow along or subscribe. *Ü*
UPDATE:  Giveaway ended and winner selected.  Find your copy on shelves now, or order online HERE.

I've had fun teaching the Sheep Shape quilt and look forward to upcoming classes at Utah's QuiltFest in September, and Quilt St. George in January of next year. Another fun fact - AccuQuilt's Half Hexagon die is the exact size as the template included in the magazine.  Makes it a snap to cut out - I think I need to make version III...

P.S. Thought you might enjoy a couple of sweet responses from QM's recent blog post when asked which quilt was their favorite:
Pat E says:  I’ve loved Sheep Shape since it first appeared on the cover.
Jen B says:  I’m in love with sheep shape. I wouldn’t make it for a baby though, I’d keep it for myself!
Johanna L says:  My favorite is sheep shape. All those hexies and that cute sheep is just a winner.

  42. Just a few things - or more than a few things- I am trying to get our son's wedding quilt finished, do some work on a slide show for my parents 60th wedding anniversary and get some of the clutter removed from our home. I am a teacher so summer is always a happening time- maybe this summer more than usual.

  43. Congratulations on making top 5.....I have always loved Sheep Shape!!! We have been very busy moving our sons. Our oldest had to move to a new city further away for a job promotion and our youngest is moving out to go back to college and start his career. This means we will have an empty nest and I can finally have a sewing room of my own to organize! We are also planning a trip home to visit our families. I enjoy following you by email and Bloglovin!

Two quilt tops completed and three more underway, plus I just put binding on a quilt I got back from my quilter. Sew, lots of cutting and sewing this summer, I am happy to say! 51. I am so glad to be reminded of your amazingly cute Sheep Shape Quilt today! A friend of my daughter's and I just found out she is pregnant and I think I must make this for her. Not only has she faced an incredibly hard time conceiving, this lovely young woman also has lived through a very tough childhood. Yet she has the sunniest and sweetest personality. I know she would love this quilt so I will be making it for her whether I win or not. It would be nice to win though, haha! Anyway, i wanted to send you a thank you for creating such a cute pattern that brings smiles into people's lives! That can be a more important thing than we think sometimes :)
