Virtual Cookie Exchange 2021!

Sugar Swirl Cookies

Cooooookies!!  Oh, I do love cookies.  And I love that Carol@JustLetMeQuilt hosts an annual virtual cookie exchange so I can collect more recipes.

Virtual Cookie Exchange 2021

I had not made these before, but I volunteered to help make cookies for a Christmas party and this was my assignment!  Delicious!!  It's always fun to try something new!  Here's the Recipe/Video from TASTY.co!

I delivered these cookies to the party, then made another batch.  This time, I did not have sprinkles, but used colored sugar crystals instead.  Still yummy!

They have you use wax paper and cling wrap, but I prefer parchment paper (also works great for applique'!).  It was super easy to roll out the rectangles, as I had drawn a 9 x 12" rectangle on the back sides of my parchment so I could roll it out pretty straight.  Then I folded the parchment over the edges of the dough to square it up!  Right?  The quilter in me couldn't have a wonky edge...

Drew a rectangle on the back of the parchment paper.

Roll out each ball of cookie dough

Fold the parchment on the line to straighten the edges of the dough.

Stack the layers.

Roll it up...

Roll in colored sugar crystals.

Chill, slice into 1/4" rounds, bake and enjoy!

Mmmmm, mmmm!  Tasty!

Last year, one of our girls decided to spend a few months near her other sister in Hawaii.  She stayed through the holidays, so she picked up a teensy Christmas tree and I sent her some fabric scraps to make a mini Star Medallion Tree Skirt for it!  And this mini is so dang cute - it's about 8" from tip to tip.  There's even a buttonhole for the trunk, lol!

So fun!  I think I need to make another batch of cookies, though; these stuck around long enough for a picture but they're all gone now!  Yummy.

Happy Baking!

  11. These bring back memories. My mom used to make chocolate swirl cookies. I'll have to try these, with a little cherry juice maybe, or cherry or strawberry extract instead of the vanilla. Thank you for the wonderful flashback.

  14. Hi Deonn! Wowee! That is an impressive cookie. It looks gorgeous on the plate. I love the idea that you had to straighten it out like a quilt, and drawing the size on the back of the parchment was brilliant. The whole display looks lovely with the tiny tree and tree skirt. Thanks for sharing this delicious and impressive looking recipe. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
