Welcome to the Picnic Party Sew It - Show It Blog Hop! Today I'm helping to kick off this fun hop, organized and hosted by Carol Swift at Just Let Me Quilt.
Red, White & Bang! center fabric panel by Sandy Gervais for Riley Blake Designs featuring Starstruck! border blocks |
The challenge for this hop was to sew and share picnic-ish quilts or other sewn items made to use for a picnic.
Around here, winter seemed to last for. ev. er!! It also gave us record snowfall that filled our reservoirs back up after about 20 years of drought conditions. So, finally, YAY! It's Summer, and we feel like it is just barely getting going!
My honey and I headed for the hills the other day, pulling over to look for a good spot for a picnic. With all the moisture this past winter, everything in this high desert area is looking lush and lovely. See that field of yellow flowers behind the buck and rail fence? Had to go and check it out!
I had finished sewing on the binding just in time to take the quilt to the city park for a photoshoot ↑. Behind the park pavillion was a balloon banner. Perfect backdrop, don't you think? As I was taking the photo, my honey said, "I hope you're recording this"! I quickly hit the "record" button, and ended up with a tiny snippet of a local band playing Sousa's Stars & Stripes Forever. Ha! How fortuitous! Then we hurried off to go wrap up in the quilt and watch fireworks at a friend's.
Be sure to check out the Picnic Party lineup today:
Oh, those flowers!! Mother Nature seems to be making up for lost time!
Yep, looks like summer! And this is the perfect quilt for little celebrations every day.
It even came with a lunchbox, so of course, we packed some little snacks for the road.
I was excited to sign up for this hop as I had made this quilt top over a year ago and needed the motivation to get it finished by the 4th of July!
For your pleasure, here's the video, edited to add a little something extra. Enjoy!
Happy Celebrating!
