Snippets ~ A Slick Little Cardholder

Time for another little snippet from the sewing room...and a Blog Hop Party Giveaway!

My fabric wallet was looking a little shabby,
so I thought I'd use up a little scrap of laminate.
At least if it gets grimy, I can just wipe it down!  "Sew" cute!
You can also use regular cotton fabric, decor-weight fabric or whatever you'd like!

"Sugar & Spice" Laminated cotton by The Quilted Fish for Riley Blake Designs

SUPPLIES:
Cut two 5" x 8" rectangles for cover and lining
1" Velcro or other hook & loop tape

5" x 8" pieces, 1" velcro

1)  MARK a curved line for flap by tracing something curvy - I used a CD.

2)  PIN rectangles right sides together, then STITCH,
leaving an opening for turning at the lower edge.

Stitch right sides together, leave space for turning

3)  TRIM curve and clip corners

Trim curves and corners
p.s. I always use pinking shears on my curves!

4)  Turn right side out and PRESS.
Use a press cloth if pressing on the laminate side.
Stitch the opening closed, then edge-stitch
about 1/8" along the bottom.

Turn right side out, press

5)  FOLD up and PIN sides in place to form pocket.
Make the pocket deep enough to hold a business card, credit card or money.

Fold up; Pin

6)  EDGE-STITCH through all layers, beginning at one bottom corner
and ending at the opposite corner.  Backstitch at the top of the pocket as you go.

7)  STITCH Velcro pieces in place.  It would have been smart to
stitch the velcro in place before sewing up the sides, but that's not what happened.

Edge-stitch; Add Velcro

8)  FILL your new little wallet with business or credit cards, cash, whatever you'd like!

Use for business/credit cards/cash

Yeah, it's handy like that!
Goes great with my new Zippered Pouch!

Blog Hop Party with Give-AwaysI'm giving away one of these little cuties ↑, but you'll have to fill it yourself!  I'll also throw in a bit of Riley Blake laminate and a couple of fat quarters to make a batch of your own sewing room SNIPPETS! << (click here to see the collection so far!
