Wool Lovers' Blog Hop

During last week's Pin It! blog hop, Denise at Pieced Brain spied my Lil' Woolie pincushion and invited me to participate in her Wool Lovers' hop today!  I made up a few more Lil' Woolies -- I call these my little "Foul Fowl".  :)

And a piggy...

Made with Handbehg large (3cm) wool balls for the body, tiny (1cm) wool balls cut in half for the eyeballs, a button to sit on, and bits of wool or roving.  They're meant to be pincushions, but I just couldn't bring myself to stab the stinkin' cute little critters!  :)

I do love working with wool, especially wool applique' - don't have to turn any edges under, hardly have to fuss at all!  I usually whip stitch.  Here is my Woolie Flowers wall hanging.  Wool applique' on a scrappy cotton backing, prairie point inner border and scalloped corners.  I especially like the  wool/cotton combo - best of both worlds.  This won 3rd place at HMQS a few years back, and now hangs in my living room. ♥♥

I've had some fun with wool felting, too.  At Girlfriends' Day Out retreat last weekend, I got to try out a Babylock Embellisher, which is basically a sewing machine that does free-motion felting/couching.  Felted down some wool cutouts, a bit of yarn, a bit of roving to embellish a fleece winter scarf.  Sweet.

Hangin' out with the DIY Dish Girls - here's Kris, owner of  My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe.
Her twin sister Kim, (of Kimberbell Designs and You Can Make This)
had a great class to introduce some fun new quilty gadgets,
including Lori Holt's half-hexie ruler... (featured in my latest video with RBD).
I didn't get a good picture with Kim; but she looks a lot like her sister ;)

Oh, sorry, I got off  on a tangent... now be sure to hop by these other sweet wool-lovin' hops today.
