Ready for a "Quilty Adventure"??
"Quilty Adventures" by Deonn Stott, 43" x 53" Lap Quilt/Wall Hanging
made by Deonn Stott & Debbie Proctor
For years I've participated in the annual Design Challenge, sponsored by Riley Blake Designs for HMQS. That show has new owners and a new name, UQSM. The challenge was continued and I jumped on the band wagon (and other moving vehicles, as it turned out!).I experimented with grid interfacing, just to see if I could get a dimensional effect on the hot air balloon by taking incrementally larger seams toward the outside of the balloon.
I gave it a good effort--not perfect, but I will be trying it again some time soon. Paired with my Heber Valley scene, it creates a nice little "Quilty Adventure".
Love the fabrics for the challenge, Meadow Sweets by Jill Finley (Jillily Studios) for Riley Blake Designs. So sweet!
I had just a few hours to quilt and machine-bind before leaving on an unexpected week-long trip, so again, not perfect, but it turned out fun. I would like to have added more details and embellishments, but as it was, I finished the hand-stitching somewhere on a bus in Connecticut and mailed it back to Utah by the deadline. *Ü*
Update: So pleased that the sale of this sweet little quilt contributed $300 to Sew Much Hope!
what a great quilt I am sure there will be plenty bidding for this one, and such a good idea re the machines used to love using a treadle machine but think a hand crank would not suit me need both hands on my fabric these days
