Nestled Stars ~ Storytime 30's

A new quilt for my newest grandbaby!

"Nestled Stars" featuring Storytime 30's fabrics by the Penny Rose Studio
for Penny Rose Fabrics, a division of  Riley Blake Designs.

Sweetest fabrics, reminiscent of the 1930's sugar and flour sack covers.  Cute little prints of animals, children, dots, elephants, flowers, kitties in cups...

Jack & Jill,

and Toys!

You may recall the quilt I made for my first grandchild earlier this year, all pink and soft mint for a baby girl HERE.  This version with the Storytime 30's prints are just right for the new baby boy!  Come to think of it, this one could be for a little girl, too, maybe with diferent quilting and a kitty motif.  😸

The quilt is designed with two simple blocks, the Sawtooth Star and a modified Churn Dash to give the quilt that nestled design.

I took clues from the Toys print for the applique' and the quilting elements; little bouncy balls in the background (ok, they're pebbles), and a few computerized beach balls in the border, with straight line quilting throughout to make it a bit more boy-ish.

Then when I saw Lori Holt's Chunky Thread, well, it matched these prints perfectly!  It's a soft cotton yarn, so, of course I had to make some matching toys for the new baby!

Awwwww, so sweet!  Meet my newest grandbaby boy!  Cuteness overload, even at 5 weeks.  Just can't get enough snuggles.

Now, Gramma D is all ready for Storytime!

I've made dozens of these cute little Tiny Teddies for the past 35 years.  I have no idea where the pattern originated.  If you'd like a copy, click HERE.

Ask for Penny Rose Studios' Storytime 30's prints and Lori Holt's Chunky Thread and Cute Crochet Hooks at your local or online retail quilt shop.  I've seen them available at Pine Needles both online and in their shop at Gardner Village in Salt Lake City.  The "Nestled Stars" pattern is now available at my Etsy Shop!
