More Than a Quilt

A few weeks ago, I helped my sister put together a T-Shirt quilt  (<see some tips) for her granddaughter's dance instructor, Aubrie Dunn.

Aubrie collected a lot of great t-shirts with bling and sparkle!  Some of them had school letters, others had sequins or buttons, and others were sweatshirts!

Aubrie taught at a certain school district so the colors made it a really cohesive theme.  I think it's the prettiest t-shirt quilt ever!

This gal has cancer, including a tumor on her spine.  She's 31.  It's heart-wrenching!  My sister and I quickly sewed it together and I was able to finish the quilting and binding in time to send it home with her.

My Sis and her little granddaughter delivered the quilt a few days later.  They ended up staying for about an hour and a half as she examined each shirt and Aubrie recalled the memories and events that were special to her.  Her smile says it all!

Cancer stinks.  But this big, warm hug-of-a-quilt can hopefully bring some love and comfort to Aubrie and to her family as she continues her battle.  Click HERE to learn more about her story.
