Tsunami Quilt - featuring RBD's "Water Mark"

Tsunami (A Giant "Storm at Sea) quilt by Deonn Stott
featuring Water Mark fabrics designed by Tammie Green @studiotgreen for Riley Blake Designs

From the moment I saw Water Mark in Riley Blake Design's catalog, I knew it was the perfect fabric for a remake of my Tsunami quilt pattern!

A traditional "Storm at Sea" quilt pattern is not usually made with blocks as large as these, but I made the original quilt for my son using upcycled denim, khakis and corduroy pants!  Thick, heavy fabrics like those called for supersized pieces, and the Tsunami quilt was born!

Water Mark's big, bold prints were perfect for these giant blocks.  I love the simple, straight-seam construction of this quilt.  It's the juxtaposition of differing angles, along with gradated shades of fabric that creates the effect of dimension and movement, like the rolling waves of a stormy sea!

My dress matches the quilt!  (Haha, and my hair, too!)  See the previous POST to learn more.

Had some great helpers testing out the quilt...

Big thanks to Riley Blake Designs for providing the fabrics for this post!  We love our new quilt!

Fabric:  Water Mark = Milo/Navy, Delta/Navy, Storm/Coastal Blue, Cove/Cool Gray, Tidalwave/White

Water Mark is making its way to quilt shops now!  Ask for it at your local quilt shop or get it from an online retailer.

Happy Quilting, friends!

  1. Your quilt turned out beautifully and I LOVE those fabrics. It is one of my favorite patterns too. It looks like you are enjoying your grandma time with that sweet little one. How quickly she has grown up! 🥲
