"From the Heart" Blog Hop ~ A New Batch of "Snippets"!

Carol@JustLetMeQuilt has organized such a fun hop this week!  We're sharing our favorite small hand-made gift ideas.  I immediately thought of making a batch of my favorite little "Snippets"!  Perfect little gifts "from the heart".

This is a collection of small projects and gifts using little bits of fabric scraps and notions.  Each one of these takes just a few minutes to make and could be a fun gift for a sewing friend or anyone!

I love to use Laminated fabric for these.  It's a cotton fabric that has a coating of vinyl.  I've sewn a lot of laminated fabric and really love the results, especially for these small projects.  Click to see my TOP 5 TIPS << for sewing with Laminates.

Today's Snippets are made from laminated fabric I found at Britex, a fabric shop in the heart of  San Francisco.   I've been holding on to it for several years but I knew it would come in handy one day!  I used about 1/3 yard of the laminate, about a fat quarter's worth of coordinating scraps of regular cottons, plus a few notions and a few minutes for each.  (By the way, these projects can also be made with any fabric.)

I've compiled a Link List below.  Some are video tutorials from other sources, most are my own free tutorials here at Quiltscapes.  Click on the links below, or take a look at my "Snippets" page for more projects and links.  You can also find a printed pattern and some kits at my Etsy Shop

1.  Zipped Bag (video tutorial by Jina Barney)

2.  Trash Stasher (video tutorial by Lila Tueller)

One of my daughters decided to go to Hawaii for an extended visit and needs some creative activities while she's there for a couple of months.  She has access to her sister's sewing machine, so I thought I'd send a care package with a bin of fabrics and a few of the patterns she wanted to work on, plus this new set of Snippets.  That way, she can keep her own sewing notions organized in a compact little bag; a portable sewing kit!  She loves purple and I think she'll like this!

And... I had a couple of leftover fabric scraps.  I made this 3-D mask child-sized but without stitching down the folded seams.  That way, the mask fits an adult and is reversible.  She's probably ready for a fresh, new mask.

9.  Bonus: Face Mask (video tutorial by MidnightBaker)

You can also see the full lineup by clicking the button at the top of the page, and view all of the projects from this hop on Carol's Pinterest page by clicking the button below. ↓↓  I've already earmarked several projects I'd love to try, and even used Scrapdash's trick to finish the corners on my Trash-stasher!  This is a collection I know will come in handy for years to come!

Happy making and gift-giving! ♥♥
